Santa
Lucija church was first recorded in 1575, and rebuilt from its
foundations in the 1790's; the latest enlargement taking place in 1950.
Santa Lucija (Saint Lucy) is invoked by those who have problems
with their eyesight, and many flock to the church on 13 December, this
being the feastday. The village square is marked by a traditional
stone cross.
The
village is right next door to Kercem and boasts some stunning
countryside. The area was once known for its fresh water springs
and it is still one of the greenest areas on Gozo.
